Es sollen mindestens ein Jahr lang jede Woch wenigsten 2 Stunden möglichst frisch gewachsene Pilze gesammelt werden, um zu sehen, wieviele Arten gefunden und bestimmt werden können. Alle Vereinsmitglieder sind dazu aufgerufen.
Der Küchwald befindet sich hauptsächlich im Viertelquadrant 14 vom Messtischblatt Chemnitz. Kleine, unbedeutende Randstreifen liegen in anderen Viertelquadranten. Da im Gelände die genaue Grenze nicht so ohne weiteres zu finden ist, werden alle Funde dem Viertelquadrant 14 zugeschrieben. Da der Küchwald teilweise als Park angelegt ist, gibt es auch Arten, die in einem Laubwald nicht vorkommen.
